What is the Difference Between a Licensed Acupuncturist and a Certified Acupuncturist?

This question is not asked enough. A licensed acupuncturist is one who has completed a 4 year Masters program learning the nuances and intricacies of the Chinese Medical system. A licensed acupuncturist is licensed by the state they practice in to perform acupuncture at the highest and safest level possible while a certified acupuncturist is usually a Chiropractor or a physical therapist who has taken about 400 hours of weekend continuing education to learn the basics of acupuncture. They are not well equipped to handle chronic disease like a licensed acupuncturist. Why do they allow certified acupuncturists to even exist? The answer is simple…..politics.
